A disciple who walks in the Spirit to honor Christ first and stays close to Him can log on to the realm of overflowing blessings.
Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing (John 15:5 NLT).
The vine is the stem of a grape plant that supplies life to all the branches. Christ is'the true vine' and disciples are the'branches'. Disciples must'remain in' or connect to Christ t o'produce much fruit'.
Connectivity to the grace of God through the blood of Christ is the key to doing works greater than Christ did (see John 14:12).
1. God's presence in Spirit-led sanctification
Holiness through Spirit-led sanctification connects you to God's holy presence that imparts overflowing blessings.
a. Sanctification invites God's presence
God is holy and His presence does not tolerate defilement.
Furthermore He said to me, "Son of man, do you see what they are doing, the great abominations that the house of Israel commits here, to make Me go far away from My sanctuary? Now turn again, you will see greater abominations" (Ezekiel 8:6 NKJV).
The glorious presence of God departed from the temple because of the idolatry and other abominations they had brought in and desecrated it.
Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy, that it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue has muttered perversity (Isaiah 59:1-3 NKJV).
God who is consistent of His holiness cannot answer their prayers unless they repent from the'iniquity' which was a repeated sin of departing from God (see also Psalm 66:18).
And Joshua said to the people, "Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you". Then Joshua spoke to the priests, saying, "?Take up the ark of the covenant and cross over before the people" … (Joshua 3:5-6 NKJV).
Sanctifying their lives, was required for God to give them the miracle of crossing the river with its water cut off, was not by a self-righteous effort but by opening up their hearts to His grace which was signified by the'ark of the covenant' going before them.
b. Repentance by walking in the Spirit
God has never required sanctification by our self-righteous effort.
Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water (Hebrews 10:19-22 NKJV).
It is by the blood Christ shed for our salvation that we can always come to God and worship Him.
As the old nature still remains in us, we'draw near' to God'with a true heart' which means confessing our sins sincerely. In honest repentance, our hearts are'sprinkled from an evil conscience' by the blood of the new covenant to worship God with hearts'in full assurance of faith'.
Repentance restored us to the favor of God. Peter wept bitterly and repented for his three denials of Christ (see Matthew 26:75). He felt ashamed and jumped into the sea when he knew the resurrected Christ was around (see John 21:7). When the Lord asked him three times how much he had really loved Him, Peter sincerely acknowledged three times for not loving the Lord enough (see John 21:15-19). Yet Christ offered him three times to return to the ministry of taking care of His'sheep'. He then firmly told Peter, "Follow Me" (see John 21:19) and readmitted him to the ministry just like the way He called him at the beginning to be a'fisher of men' (see Matthew 4:19).
c. Sanctification channels rich blessings
Sanctification restores us to God's presence that gives overflowing blessings.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you (Matthew 6:33 NKJV).
'Seeking His righteousness' is coming under the blood of the covenant of grace. God's abundant providence is given on the condition of Spirit-led sanctification.
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful (Psalm 1:1 NKJV).
A firm stand in holy living guarantees you of living in the rich blessings of God.
Ezra reminded Israel against seeking intermarriage with pagans for material gains, which would drive their descendants to unholy living and forfeiting the blessings from God (see Ezra 9:11-12).
d. Sanctification channels revival
Sanctification brings restoration and revival for the world.
When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land (2 Chronicles 7:13-14 NKJV).
'My people', God's covenant people, are given the authority to revert adversities that a city or a nation suffers because of God's judgment. As God's covenant people, we can initiate restoration for a community by offering representational repentance for the people and by teaching them to live in righteousness by the justification of Christ. God will honor our representational repentance and the preaching of the gospel.
God would heal the land when His covenant people sanctify themselves.
God has promised to reward sanctification with good weather, healthy lives for people and livestock, high yielding crops, growth in economy, consciousness of moral values, wisdom and achievements, political stability, and favorable trading (see Deuteronomy 28:1-14).
Moses who had lost his influence and ability during his forty years in the desert was revived in the glorious presence of God to confront Pharaoh whom he was not in any position to challenge (see Exodus 3-4).
God's strong presence which manifested through the first church had revived and transformed the world that was under the Roman oppression. In the first two years after the Pentecost, the continuous daily church growth brought in multitudes to Jerusalem and the surrounding cities (see Acts 2:47; 4:32, 5:14, 16, 42). For eight years, the impact of revival continued to spread throughout Judea and Samaria (see Acts 8:1, 4, 6) and churches were multiplying (see Acts 9:31). In the twelfth year, the revival had reached five hundred kilometers northward to Antioch and a great number of people believed in the gospel (see Acts 11:19).
Sanctification that brings revival gives divine protection. The revival initiated by King Hezekiah had re-established a godly environment over Judah. Assyria came and attacked Jerusalem at such time. As Hezekiah and Isaiah cried out to God, the Lord sent an angel to cut down 185,000 mighty men in the camp of the enemy (see 2 Chronicles 32:21, 2 Kings 19:35).
2. God's presence flows freely to transform
The habitation of God that can transform nations extends from a person, similar to the nature of rivers.
Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water." But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified (John 7:37b-39 NKJV).
'Rivers of living water' is the manifestation of the Holy Spirit in your life, flowing out of your spirit like springs expanding into rivers. The further they go the greater impact they will deliver.
Being really thirsty for revival is the way to drink deeply from the River of God.
But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life (John 4:14 NKJV).
These thirst quenching spiritual rivers of'living water' (see John 4:10) will flow far and wide continuously into eternity. Let the Holy Spirit take over and flow freely. God does the work, you follow.
And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb (Revelation 22:1 NKJV).
The River Glory that comes forth directly from God's throne is always life giving. Not even persecution and testing can stop it from sending forth revival.
Then he brought me back to the door of the temple; and there was water, flowing from under the threshold of the temple toward the east, for the front of the temple faced east; the water was flowing from under the right side of the temple, south of the altar. He brought me out by way of the north gate, and led me around on the outside to the outer gateway that faces east; and there was water, running out on the right side. And when the man went out to the east with the line in his hand, he measured one thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the water came up to my ankles. Again he measured one thousand and brought me through the waters; the water came up to my knees. Again he measured one thousand and brought me through; the water came up to my waist (Ezekiel 47:1-4 NKJV).
God's desire is to take you to places in the River Glory that you do not even know they exist. The Guide—the Holy Spirit—knows how much you can handle and how far you are able to go. He will measure and lead you.
You must descend to this River. Humility gets you into the realm of the glory of God. It comes through the simplicity of praising until the glory shows. When the glory comes, all you need to do is yield yourself and be carried away by the flow of the River of God.
Again he measured one thousand, and it was a river that I could not cross; for the water was too deep, water in which one must swim, a river that could not be crossed. He said to me, "Son of man, have you seen this?" Then he brought me and returned me to the bank of the river (Ezekiel 47:5-6 NKJV).
Let the greatness of the River Glory take over and carry you as God wishes it to flow, to change your perceptions, to enlarge your vision, and to cause you to do new things. The River of Divine Revelation will cause you to become focused to see the big picture. You will not be troubled by events, situations, or reactions.
And it shall be that every living thing that moves, wherever the rivers go, will live. There will be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters go there; for they will be healed, and everything will live wherever the river goes. It shall be that fishermen will stand by it from En Gedi to En Eglaim; they will be places for spreading their nets. Their fish will be of the same kinds as the fish of the Great Sea, exceedingly many (Ezekiel 47:9-10 NKJV).
Wherever the Revival River goes, it brings restoration, healing and deliverance. Its greatness will give you a very great multitude of fish and take from you the spirit of competition.
Along the bank of the river, on this side and that, will grow all kinds of trees used for food; their leaves will not wither, and their fruit will not fail. They will bear fruit every month, because their water flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for medicine (Ezekiel 47:12 NKJV).
Flowing in the River Glory is to host revival to give spiritual food and healings.
