A Discipleship Cell consists of the Cell Leaders and Interns whom you have sent to develop Discovery Cells and Fellowship Cells.
In a Discipleship Cell, a Section Overseer's aim is to train and send twelve Cell Leaders (each given two Interns and two founding members) to build a Section of 144 soul winning members.
You achieve your target by pouring your life on the twelve Cell Leaders until they practice evangelism and mentor twelve disciples each to generate spiritual multiplication.
1. Commitment to multiply
Mentoring twelve persons for multiplying disciples is a long-term commitment that requires conviction, authority, and loyalty.
a. Conviction to multiply
Your chief target in developing a Section is producing continuous multiplication to accomplish the Great Commission. You must have two generations of disciples who are as determined to multiply disciples as you do.
And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also (2 Timothy 2:2 NKJV).
Paul, Timothy, and the 'faithful men who are able to teach others' are the three generations of able disciples required in the process of spiritual multiplication.
The expression of 'the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob' shows a spiritual legacy of three generations (see Exodus 3:15).
As your Discipleship Cell meets monthly, enhance the vision of producing spiritual multiplication as the way to accomplish the Great Commission speedily. You coach each of the disciples on launching a Discovery Cell to win souls, developing it into a Fellowship Cell to build believers, and establishing it into a Discipleship Cell to mentor disciples.
b. Authority to impact
A continuation of 'one generation makes two generations of disciples' will impact the spiritual realm and the community.
Christ ministered to the multitudes but gave authority to only twelve disciples to start a movement of multiplying disciples for capturing the world (see Matthew 9:35-10:2a).
'Twelve' in Jewish usage signifies 'government'. The twelve patriarchs headed the twelve tribes of Israel (see Genesis 35:22-26; Exodus 28:21). Solomon had appointed twelve governors over all Israel (see 1 Kings 4:7). Christ had called twelve disciples to be the founding apostles of the Church (see Luke 6:12-16).
The number of disciples each generation makes will determine the speed of multiplication. If you make three disciples and each of them also makes three disciples, it will take about twenty-one generations of multiplication to win the entire world population (3 21 is 10,460,353,203). When each generation mentors twelve disciples it will not take more than ten rounds of multiplication (12 10 is 61,917,364,224).
A Section of twelve disciples who are committed to make twelve disciples each will deliver a great volume of authority to storm the spiritual realm and impact the community speedily.
c. Loyalty to Christ
When every disciple can produce two generations of disciples loyal to Christ, this opens up a channel of God's overflowing grace for achieving great success.
He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing (John 15:5b NKJV).
'He who abides in Me, and I in him' speaks of an unreserved dedication to Christ. 'Bears much fruit' is a promise of success for committed disciples. Total loyalty to Christ opens up a channel of spiritual blessings to overflow your life. The achievement of God's work through you will go far beyond the effort you put in.
You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you (John 15:16 NKJV).
Christ has handpicked you to be His loyal disciple to achieve lasting success.
When each generation of disciples have established two generations of loyal disciples to Christ, the long lasting success from the overflowing grace of God will perpetuate.
2. Establishing multipliers
The nature of establishing multipliers is relational more than instructional.
Establishing twelve multipliers is a process of spiritual parenting, pouring your life on theirs until they can carry on the heritage (see Galatians 4:19; Colossians 1:28-29).
I do not write these things to shame you, but as my beloved children I warn you. For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. Therefore I urge you, imitate me. For this reason I have sent Timothy to you, who is my beloved and faithful son in the Lord, who will remind you of my ways in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every church (1 Corinthians 4:14-17 NKJV).
A spiritual father, different from being a teacher, 'begets' or 'parents' spiritual children. He pours his life on them lovingly to bring them up since their spiritual birth.
He is a role model having the right to 'warn' his spiritual children and speaking solemnly into their hearts. They will 'imitate' or pattern after him to inherit his spiritual heritage.
This loving connectivity between spiritual parents and spiritual children sustains the multiplication process to go beyond the third generation.
a. Share your life
Your first role in the process of establishing multipliers is like a caring mother giving her life.
As apostles of Christ we certainly had a right to make some demands of you, but we were as gentle among you as a mother feeding and caring for her own children. We loved you so much that we gave you not only God's Good News but our own lives, too. Don't you remember, dear brothers and sisters, how hard we worked among you? Night and day we toiled to earn a living so that our expenses would not be a burden to anyone there as we preached God's Good News among you. You yourselves are our witnesses—and so is God—that we were pure and honest and faultless toward all of you believers (1 Thessalonians 2:7-10 NLT).
You give your life to disciples by showing a godly example of being 'pure and honest and faultless toward people'. Spiritual parenting includes showing an example in ministry.
Show them by example in winning souls (Enhance frequently Ministry 103, Part 1, Winning People ; and Discovery 101, New Life).
Be their example in building members (Enhance frequently Discipleship 102, Christian Living and Following Christ ; also enhance Ministry 103, Part 2, Spiritual Freedom ; and Christianity 104, Christian Belief, Bible Study).
Be their example in making disciples for accomplishing the Great Commission (Enhance frequently Leadership 105, Lead Cells, Oversee Section).
Sharing your life with them involves sacrificing willingly your precious resources and privacy (Enhance Leadership 105, Part 2, lessons 4 to 6).
b. Impart your vision
Your second role in the process of establishing multipliers is like a visionary father imparting his dream.
You know that we treated each of you as a father treats his own children. We encouraged you, we urged you, and we insisted that you live good lives for God, who calls you to his glorious kingdom. Also, we always thank God because when you heard his message from us, you accepted it as the word of God, not the words of humans. And it really is God's message which works in you who believe (1 Thessalonians 2:11-13 NCV).
A visionary father strives towards a big dream with all his strength and inspires his children to build on what he has achieved. He believes they will do better than he did and he makes sure they will not disappoint him.
A visionary father 'encourages', 'urges', and 'insists' on the vision always. When the vision works in their lives, they will regard it as from God.
Teach them to follow closely Leadership 105, Lead Cells and Oversee Section, as they win people to form Cells and develop Sections for producing spiritual multiplication.
Motivate them to follow Vision 106, Destiny & Reward, to live faithfully for the Great Commission.
When they can multiply disciples without your help, they have become mature (see also 1 Thessalonians 1:5-8; 2:17-20).
c. Give your partnership
Your third role in establishing multipliers is like a brother providing his partnership.
Brothers and sisters, your experiences have been like those of God's churches in Christ that are in Judea. You suffered from the people of your own country, as they suffered from the Jews, who killed both the Lord Jesus and the prophets and forced us to leave that country. They do not please God and are against all people. They try to stop us from teaching those who are not Jews so they may be saved. By doing this, they are increasing their sins to the limit. The anger of God has come to them at last (1 Thessalonians 2:14-16 NCV).
'Brethren' or translated as 'brothers and sisters' is used fifteen times in this letter.
They are like your brothers or sisters when they can stand up for Christ against all testing, temptations, and sufferings. Treat them now as partners and release them to testify for Christ and face greater challenges by faith. Expect them to do to others what you have done to their lives. Lead them to perform and achieve better than you do.
You are now a senior partner in achieving the Great Commission.
Watch them following Vision 106, Destiny & Reward and living for the Great Commission. Give advice and help whenever necessary.
Because close partnership involves strong friendship and affection, gender homogeneity in Discipleship Cell is preferable.
